Back from the Maldives!

First I'm sorry for the delay in posting about my trip, things at work have been hectic since I've been back! After returning from perfect 32ºc weather, to freezing 10ºc and rain it makes it so much harder to get back to it!

The first day of our trip we arrived in muggy Kuala Lumpur in the late afternoon. We checked into our hotel, the Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It is a fantastic hotel right in the centre of the city. This is the view from our room window:

It is directly accross from the Petrona's Towers and has an underground walkway to the Suria KLCC shopping centre. A huge 6 floor mall filled with everything from designer brands to the food court. The next morning we were picked up for our day tour to the Royal Selangor Pewter factory, batik show-room and the Batu Caves.

After a few days of wondering the city and shopping up a storm at China Town and the Central Market we were ready to move on to our main holiday destination - the Maldives!

As soon as you fly into Male you realise the pictures you see online and in books etc are exactly what it looks like in real life! You cannot even imagine how clear the water is and how beautiful everything is until you arrive!

After a warm welcome from a representative from the W Retreat & Spa we were checking in for our seaplane flight, heading to the seaplane lounge to wait to take off.
The views from the seaplane were amazing.
When we touched down at the resort we knew we had arrived in paradise!

These are just some of the 100's of photos I took whilst away. I hope you enjoy! For more information about the resort visit their websites here and here.

Restaurant Review: Blessed Cheese McLaren Vale

Ok well technically Blessed Cheese isn't a restaurant but that's what my blog category is called so that's what it'll be! Ok now we have that sorted let's get started!

Blessed Cheese is a combination of a cheese shop, licensed cafe and providore. They sell an amazing range of cheeses (see photo above - just a small section of their cheese fridge!), small goods, homemade bread and lots of organic pasta, juice, dips and more! They also can do up a custom picnic basket/hamper to take for a drive or to a local winery etc. They cost approx $60 including the basket, plates cutlery, napkins etc. You can choose what you like to put in or they put something together for you. See below for our custom picnic basket we ordered a few months ago.

The main reason for the review is the Blessed Cheese breakfast. They have the most amazing natural breakfasts are open from 8am til 2pm on the weekends and are also open Monday to Friday too. Check out their menu here.

My partner ordered the farmers bacon and eggs. It comes with fried spinach and sour-dough toast.

I ordered the corn fritters, which comes with poached eggs, bacon and tomato relish.

It is perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch followed by a stroll down the main road of McLaren Vale.

          Visit www.blessedcheese.com.au for more info!

          Whitney Eve Collection

I've always loved Whitney Port and ever since following her on The Hills and The City I've also been following her fashion career. Whilst browsing her blog today I found two great video's she did for very.com. The first video showcases her Autumn/Winter line.

and the second video is the before-during-after of her New York Fashion Week show.

What do you love about Whitney?

Restaurant Review: Fenix Richmond (Gary Mehigan)

On my recent trip to Melbourne I visited famous Masterchef host Gary Mehigan's restaurant Fenix. It is just 2km's from Melbourne CBD or 15 minutes by tram (catch the 109 tram from Collins St to stop 25). The restaurant is set right on the Yarra River in Richmond.
The day we went it was a beautiful summers day so we decided to sit outside with a view of the river.

The attentive wait-staff brought us some water and menu's with great choices!

We took a liking to the express lunch menu, where you get two courses with a glass of house wine, 300ml tap beer, juice or soft drink for just $35, extra courses for $15 (see the menu choices here). We arrived super hungry and decided to do 3 courses (entrée, main and dessert for only $50!).

After we had ordered they brought out some home-made warm bread and butter.

          ENTREE:
For entrée my partner ordered the baby beetroot salad with Persian feta & cos lettuce.
I ordered the watermelon & goats curd salad with dill. Both of these salads were light and fresh!

          MAIN:
For main course my parner ordered the slow cooked pork belly with summer squash & oregano.
and I decided on the fish pie with potato & parmesan crust. Again really great produce and cooked really well.

          DESSERT:
For dessert my parner decided to have the hot doughnuts with lemon curd & sweet lemon syrup.
and I had the passion fruit tart with clotted cream. This dessert was absolutely amazing, and the perfect way to finish the meal.

I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Melbourne, 10 out of 10! Check out the Fenix website here for bookings and full menu's.
